Biographical or Historical Information

The Purdue Alumni Association was established in 1878 in West Lafayette. As an institution within the Purdue University System, Purdue University Calumet graduates were allowed membership in this association. However, in 1972, Purdue University Calumet began pushing for its own organization to complement the work of the Purdue Alumni Association as a result of their alumni network growing since they began hosting commencements locally in 1967. Renaming its chapter to “Purdue Calumet Alumni Association (PCAA),” and later, “Purdue Alumni Association Calumet (PAAC),” Purdue University Calumet constructed a local membership association to promote rapport among rapidly growing alumni and provide guidance in the growth and development of the campus.  By 1974, the State of Indiana had certified Purdue Alumni Association Calumet as a not for profit corporation. The association changed its title to Purdue Alumni Calumet (PAC) in the 1990s and is managed by the Office of Advancement. The maintenance, organization, and administrative control of Purdue Alumni Calumet is often referred to as Alumni Relations. Purdue Alumni Calumet serves as a liaison between its members, University alumni, and current Purdue Calumet students, and provides opportunities for networking and enhancing professional, personal and leadership development in efforts to increase loyalty to Purdue Calumet, foster pride in a Purdue degree and enhance students’ Purdue Calumet experience.
