Scope and Contents
The Office of Advancement collection contains records in four series: SERIES I: ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS, 1972-2001 [bulk 1972-1987] Series I contains administrative records of the office and financial records of Purdue University Calumet. The series includes lists of donors and gifts, correspondence, publication costs for an Office brochure, records from the Estate Planning/Planned Giving Seminar, Quarterly Reports, records about membership in the Chancellor’s Council, and newspaper clippings. In addition, this series includes the records for the fundraising “Plan for the Eighties,” which was a development plan hosted by West Lafayette. University Development officials corresponded with Calumet administrators to fundraise for this plan as well. The Plan for the Eighties helped inspire Purdue University Calumet administrators to develop an internal Office of Development (i.e. Advancement) to handle its own fundraising efforts. SERIES II: PHONE-A-THON, 1982-1991 [bulk 1982-1987] Series II contains the records kept by the Office of Advancement for its “Phone-a-thon” fundraiser in the 1980s. The series includes minutes, correspondence, flyers, printing records, room arrangement records, lists of phone numbers, records on prizes awarded to callers, publicity, manpower statistics, print samples, expense and income records, invoices, gift procedures, and notes. SERIES III: ANNUAL FUND, 1978-1987 Series III contains the records for the Office of Advancement’s annual fund. This series is incomplete and only contains records from the 1978, 1986-1987, and 1987-1988 years. SERIES IV: INDIVIDUAL CAMPAIGNS AND SCHOLARSHIPS, 1976-2001 Series IV contains records from various fundraising campaigns and fundraising efforts for scholarships at Purdue University Calumet. This series includes records from the Alumni Fund Drive, Interchange Program fundraising, Hammond Council PTA Scholarship Fund, Engineering and Technology Summer Seminar fundraising, Bank Solicitation Program, Computer Aided Drafting program’s equipment fundraising, Year End Campaign, Talent Award Scholarships, Purdue Alumni Calumet Faculty Grant award, Fortieth Anniversary Direct Mail Solicitation, Alumni Mail Solicitation, Parents’ Mail Solicitation, Lake Area United Way, Strengthening the Partnership Campaign, and the James Yackel Undergraduate Endowment.

Biographical or Historical Information
The Office of Advancement at Purdue University Calumet was previously known as the Office of Development or University Development and worked principally under the West Lafayette campus.
The Office of Advancement supports itself as well as University Relations and Purdue Alumni Calumet (i.e. Alumni Relations). Advancement is primarily responsible for the maintenance and development of the Purdue University Calumet Campus through the management of funds and fundraising.
