Scope and Contents
The Office of Continuing Education collection contains the administrative records of the Office. Items include, correspondence, the Director’s papers, letters of agreement, memoranda, reports, class rosters, course evaluations, course cancellations, records from seminars hosted by the Office of Continuing Education, bulletins, and brochures. The bulk of this collection contains the Forms 36 binders which contain records prior to the opening of the Office of Continuing Education. However, the Office of Continuing Education inherited these records since it managed the same data. The binders contain course proposals, cancellations, financial reports, and rosters for various courses and activities at Purdue University Calumet.

Conditions Governing Access
The Faculty Requests for Preparation of Payroll Change forms, 1974 in Box 2, folder 5 have been restricted to protect personal information. The rest of the collection is open for research
Biographical or Historical Information
The Office of Continuing Education was established at Purdue University Calumet in 1975 as a division within the Center for Community Services. After the Calumet campus received academic autonomy from West Lafayette in 1974, Purdue University Calumet sought to advance the community service function of the University.
The Office of Continuing Education sought to fill the need for continuing education for northwest Indiana citizens regardless of their previous contact with institutions of higher education. The Office coordinated both credit and non-credit programs catered toward evening students. In addition, the Office sponsored and arranged conferences, seminars, institutes, and short courses for adults who wished to continue their education.
