Biographical or Historical Information
The Office of Evening Administration and Conference Operations has previously been known as the Division of Conferences and Continuation Services. The Office has also been referred simply as Evening Administration, Continuation Services, and Conference Operations. The Student Services department oversaw the Division of Conferences and Continuation Services. The purpose of this service was to provide workshops and conferences to serve the educational needs of the professional community in Northwest Indiana. Thus, the Division of Conferences and Continuation Services managed the services necessary for non-traditional students that could not access certain offices during normal business hours.
By the 1990s, the name had changed to the Office of Evening Administration and Conference Operations. The Office of Evening Administration continued to provide services to students who attend evening classes, but Purdue University Calumet no longer provided evening workshops exclusively for non-traditional students. At this time, Conference Operations was still a managed under the same office, but its responsibilities focused on facilitating conference events sponsored by Purdue University Calumet schools, departments, and administrative units.
