Scope and Contents
The Student Support Services collection contains records from the office of Student Support Services including, memoranda, newsletters, flyers, brochures, and newspaper clippings. In addition, the collection contains records for the Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship Program, the Educational Talent Search, the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, the Twenty-First Century Scholars Program, Upward Bound, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Lastly, the collection includes records kept on disability, counseling, and cultural awareness services offered through the Educational Opportunity Programs.

Biographical or Historical Information
The Educational Opportunity Programs provide educational access and opportunity for low-income, first generation college students and students from underrepresented disciplines in graduate study. Participants from sixth grade through graduate school benefit from a nationwide educational opportunity program network that provides services such as tutoring, career and personal counseling, supplemental instruction, graduate and undergraduate school visitations, and cultural awareness field experiences..
Also found within the Educational Opportunity Programs are Services for Students with Disabilities, the 21st Century Scholars Program, and the National Science Foundation Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship Program.
Together, these programs comprise the "TRiO" Education Opportunity Programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education at Purdue University Calumet.
