Scope and Contents
The Health, Recreation, and Sports Division collection contains records from Athletics, the Fitness Center (also known as the Total Fitness Center), Intramural Sports, and the Wellness Center. Items include the Philosophy and Goals of the Athletics, Intramurals, and Recreation Program, memoranda, newsletters, event flyers, brochures, news releases, newspaper clippings, 25th and 60th anniversary commemorative items, athletics jerseys, and records from individual athletics teams such as Men’s Football, Golf, Soccer, Baseball, and Hockey, and Women’s Volleyball and Softball. The collection also contains textile artifacts: six intramural t-shirts, a 25th anniversary of the Fitness Center T-shirt, and 10 sports jerseys.

Biographical or Historical Information
In support of student success, the division of Health, Recreation and Sports strives to provide engaging / innovative health care, fitness, wellness and counseling services to meet the needs of Purdue University Calumet students. Their focus is on educating students to take responsibility for their health.
The Health, Recreation, and Sports Division oversees Athletics, the Counseling Center, the Fitness Center, Intramural Sports, Student Health Services Center, and the Wellness Center. The Recreation and Intramural programs provide the opportunity for students to participate in structured fitness and game activities or to enjoy casual exercise experiences.
The sports program is designed to provide intercollegiate sports participation (men’s and women’s basketball) and spectator opportunities for the campus and local community.
In the past, the Counseling Center on campus was a division of Student Services and under the Office of Student Affairs. In addition, the Fitness Center was previously known as the Total Fitness Center.
