Scope and Contents
The Business Services and Comptroller’s Office collection contains records in four series. This collection contains records from four offices that are under the jurisdiction of Business Services and Comptroller’s Office SERIES I: Accounting and Budget Services, 1974-2008 Series I contains memoranda, forms, and information regarding the Travel Center pertaining to Accounting and Budget Services, such as the Accounting Manager and Travel Center. SERIES II: Bursar, 1971-1992 Series II contains the fee lists and memoranda published by the Bursar. SERIES III: Purchasing and General Services, 1968-2010 Series III contains memoranda of the Office of Purchasing and General Services. In addition, this series contains records pertaining to Purchasing and General Services, such as the Campus Mail Service, Duplication Center, and the Calumet Stores Catalogue. SERIES IV: Business Manager, 1968-1995 Series IV includes administrative memoranda and general memoranda from the Business Manager, Director of Budget and Fiscal Affairs, and the Manager of Fiscal Affairs. The series includes the Business Manager’s University Policies related to the Payment of Clerical and Service Staff, memoranda of agreement between agencies and Purdue University Calumet, budget summaries, records for post-secondary funding, the “Project Effect” financial records, the proposed budget for development of HS4 software, and the financial and manpower records from the Gary Summer Youth Employment Program. In addition, this series includes the Hammond Comprehensive Employment Training Act (CETA) Contract records from 1978 to 1980, which are closed and contain contract agreements, award notifications, reports, correspondence, and a Reel to Reel video tape of the “Women’s Entry into Technology” Training Program through CETA and Purdue University Calumet in 1978.

Conditions Governing Access
The Hammond Comprehensive Employment Training Act (CETA) Contract records, 1978-1980 in SERIES IV: Business Manager, is currently restricted. Patrons need to consult with the Archives Manager before viewing this collection. The remainder of the collection is open for research.
Biographical or Historical Information
The Business Services and Comptroller’s Office is a division of the Administrative Services at Purdue University Calumet. The Office is overseen by the Vice Chancellor for Business Services and Comptroller and is broken up into three departments: Accounting and Budget Services, Purchasing and General Services, and the Business Manager’s Office.
In the past, the Business Manager’s title changed a variety of times. In 1983, the Business Manager was synonymous with the Comptroller. In 1992, the Accounting Department and payroll function of the campus combined into one office, entitled Fiscal Operations. In 1995, the Business Manager’s title was changed to the Director of Budget and Fiscal Affairs, and the Assistant Business Manager’s title was changed to Assistant Director of Budget and Fiscal Affairs.
