Abstract
In February 1974, Chancellor Carl H. Elliott submitted a proposal to the Board of Trustees of Purdue University for academic autonomy of the Calumet Campus. The proposal included four schools offering degree programs, including the School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SBAS). Purdue University awarded Academic Autonomy to the Calumet Campus, and the School of Basic and Applied Sciences began offering degrees during the 1975-1976 school year.
